Particle production in the central rapidity region.

چکیده
We study pair production from a strong electric field in boostinvariant coordinates as a simple model for the central rapidity region of a heavy-ion collision. We derive and solve the renormalized equations for the time evolution of the mean electric field and current of the produced particles, when the field is taken to be a function only of the fluid proper time τ = √ t2 − z2. We find that a relativistic transport theory with a Schwinger source term modified to take Pauli blocking (or Bose enhancement) into account gives a good description of the numerical solution to the field equations. We also compute the renormalized energy-momentum tensor of the produced particles and compare the effective pressure, energy and entropy density to that expected from hydrodynamic models of energy and momentum flow of the plasma.

4 Bremsstrahlung from colour charges as a source of soft particle production in hadronic collisions
It is proposed that soft particle production in hadronic collisions is dominated by multiple gluon exchanges between partons from the colliding hadrons, followed by radiation of hadronic clusters from the coloured partons distributed uniformly in rapidity. This explains naturally two dominant features of the data: (a) The linear increase of rapidity spectra in the regions of limiting fragmentat...
متن کاملAngular and momentum asymmetry in particle production at high energies
Angular asymmetry and momentum disbalance for a pair of particles produced at high energy in central rapidity region are studied. The asymmetry is substantial for small momenta of produced particles but diminishes when they rise.
متن کاملLeading charm production in the interacting gluon model.
We discuss leading charm production in connection with energy deposition in the central rapidity region. Special attention is given to the correlation between production in central and fragmentation regions. If the fraction of the reaction energy released in the central region increases the asymmetry in the x F distributions of charmed mesons will become smaller. We illustrate this quantitative...
متن کاملQGP formation and strange antibaryons
We analyze current experimental results and explore, as function of the collision energy and stopping in relativistic nuclear collisions, the production yields of strange antibaryons, assuming formation of a deconfined thermal QGP-fireball which undergoes a sudden hadronisation. متن کاملRecent Results from the BRAHMS Experiment
We present recent results obtained by the BRAHMS experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) for the systems of Au + Au and Cu + Cu at √ s N N = 200 GeV and at 62.4 GeV, and p + p at √ s N N = 200 GeV. BRAHMS explores reaction dynamics and properties of the hot and high energy density matter produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions versus its longitudinal expansion. Over...
متن کاملOverview and Recent Results from BRAHMS
The BRAHMS experiment was designed to measure and characterize in particular the properties of rapidity dependence of particle production in heavy ion collisions. The data-taking is now over, results of several years of analysis have been published and demonstrates several important features of the rapidity dependence, not envisioned from the start of the RHIC program. The bulk properties of th...
